Added features in Ontolica 3.2 (released September 2007):
Wildcard searchEnables a user to substitute one or more letters of a search word with an asterisk. Visitors can search effectively for names and products without knowing the exact spelling, so that no options are missed.
Search across WSS and MOSSMetadata searchFederated searchEnables users to search different MOSS indexes from the same Search Center.
Drill down searchImproved Best BetsEnable content authors to create editorial results on selected keywords and phrases. Ontolica offers the following improvements over standard MOSS Best Bets:
- Support for showing an image in the result.
- Audience targeting.
- Site level Best Bets. Defining a Best Bet on a sub site will ensure that it is only shown when the user initiated the search from that sub site.
Image SearchNew search tab optimized for searching images.
More languagesGerman, French, Italian, Danish and Dutch.
Load property values from web service.Enable developers to populate metadata drop-downs on the advanced search page from a custom web service.
Simple export/import of configuration settings.Ontolica search configuration settings on the site collection level and down are now stored as XML files in a hidden document library. This will enable simple staging of the settings.
Improved integration to My SitesNew Ontolica Search Box feature, which can be enabled on the web application level to provide the Ontolica search box on all sites hosted by the web application.
Import/Export of configuration settings.Option for staging or simply backing up Ontolica configuration files.
Property Value Selector: Lookup field (dynamic lookup + browse dialog).Get suggestions for matching property values as you type.
Audience targeting of Ontolica Search settings.This feature makes it possible to target search scopes, search tabs, meta data, etc. to specific groups of users.
Search result grouping.Group results by site, date, file type, file size and custom properties.
People search: A-Z.Predefined A-Z searches on names.
People search: Find all.Option to list all people with the need to specify a search.
Save search.Enables users to store a search query for later recall.
Improved loading of property values from a SharePoint list.More options for populating a metadata drop down with values from a SharePoint list.
Show/Hide inherited configuration items.Site owners that inherit search settings from a higher level in the Ontolica configuration hierarchy can now choose to suppress these.
